These things should be done on a specified basis, in accordance with your system’s maintenance plan. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SERVICE MY SEPTIC SYSTEM?

For all systems built in 2005 and later; this information is usually found in the maintenance and operation manual for your septic system. As a general rule, you should have your system looked at every time it is being pumped out or cleaned. If you’re not sure how often you should have it done, we recommend residential systems be pumped every 2-3 years of normal usage as a starting benchmark.

HOW LONG DOES A NEW SEPTIC TANK LAST?

A gravity system, if properly maintained, can last up to 50 years.

DO I NEED A SEPTIC SYSTEM?

All residential, commercial, and industrial structures that produce wastewater either must connect to a traditional city sewer or, where city connection is unavailable, have a septic system installed to disperse wastewater responsibly and sustainably back into the environment. While you may not need a new one, it is best to make sure your system is up to date and regularly provided with maintenance.
